To clean the print head on a J696 or J693 printer:
  1. Turn the printer off and unplug it.
  2. Open the cover.
  3. Unlock the print head latch and raise the print head assembly. Allow the printhead to cool before proceeding.
  4. Move media and ribbon away from the print head as necessary.
  5. Using a cotton swab moistened, not soaked, with isopropyl alcohol, gently wipe away any build-up on the print head surface, paying close attention to the burn line.
  6. Allow the print head to dry.
  7. Replace the ribbon and media.
  8. Lower the print head assembly back to the locked position.
  9. Close the cover.
  10. Plug in and turn on the printer.
  11. Feed several labels to normalize tracking.
